Travel Tips

Sorry, I am not offering you any travel tips.  Instead I would like you to offer me some travel tips.

I have a little idea brewing.

If you were to take an extended vacation, what are the top ten places in the world that you would go to? Or if you have already been to some awesome places, what are the top ten must see places in the world? Any specific things you would do in these locations?

Lets hear it.

Alright, that is all.

Happy Monday.

Also, while I am happy that we have finally seen the demise of Bin Laden and I can understand the sense of pride and of feelings of accomplishment and that feeling of WINNING but for some reason it still feels weird to me that people are gathering to cheer on his death.  Am I the only one feeling like this?

  1. Ok, a) NO, you're not the only one feeling that way. Boo to terrorism and all that, but it's still pretty morbid to be throwing Death Day parties.

And b) vacation planning--pretty much my favorite to do! Hope you and Joseph are planning to do something AWESOME. I don't know what you've got up your sleeve or what your vacation budget is like, but here are a few of my favorite places:

    1. Italy--AMAZING. (It's worth the airfare just to get over there and taste the gelato, but the fun doesn't stop there. There's just so much to see and do.
    2. Africa--kind of pricey getting there, but well worth it if you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience. I went there for 3 weeks back in 2007, and I still think about it all the time. We visited a lot of cool places (like the Johannesburg temple), but mostly, I was just blown away by the safari trips we went on. SO. FREAKIN. COOL! I could easily have stayed for 3 months and never once gotten bored.
    3. If you're looking for something a little more relaxing, my all-time favorite vacation spots are Hawaii and St. Thomas. Hawaii is especially awesome because it's beautiful, the beaches are perfect, and all of that is so relaxing, but at the same time, there is SO much to do. (Hiking up to gorgeous waterfalls, cliff diving, ocean kayaking, snorkeling...) And St. Thomas, well, it's the CARIBBEAN. Really can't go wrong.
    4. Costa Rica!!! Seriously one of the coolest places I've ever been. That was partially due to the awesome activities we did over there (which obviously adds to the overall trip budget), but it was just SO stinkin cool! The wildlife is unreal (picture outdoor showers with baby monkeys racing through trees two feet away from you), we went zip-lining and horseback riding through the jungle, visited the mud baths and hot springs... In a word, awesome.

Ok, now I just want to go on a trip! Dang it.

  2. Thanks Amy for your depressing comment. Man, now I want to go on vacation so badly again. Blah, real life is the worst.
My comment was for St. Thomas. I went with Amy and her family back in college and it's still the most beautiful place on the planet in my book. I would also strongly recommend Grand Cayman because it's amazing and beautiful but there is TONS to do there. If you do go, you have to swim with the sting rays. By far the coolest thing you can do. Also...can I come with?? :)

  3. i'm gonna have to say ditto to the Africa suggestion (south africa that is). Its AMAZING! going on a safari is like nothing you'll ever experience.

but my number choice to go back to is New Zealand for sure. mainly because of the beauty. its not one of those trips with a million outdoor activities to do, but the breathtaking views alone is worth it. i would live there in a heartbeat if it wasn't so far away!

as far as a warm weather beach vacation, i would say maui. its exactly how you would picture hawaii but without all the tourists. can you say pina colada?!? yum!
