Valentine's Day

This year for Valentine's Day Joseph really out did himself. Traditionally, we don't make a big fuss about Valentine's Day. This year we went to dinner at a new-to-me place (Joseph had been before because it is close to Penn) called Greek Lady. I had the largest greek salad you have ever seen.

After dinner, Joseph surprised me with tickets to The Vow*. Lately, every time a commercial for the movie came on I would proclaim enthusiastically how much I wanted to see it. It was a perfectly cheesy way to spend Valentine's.

The best part is that Joseph managed to go through a whole chick flick without ruining any of the romantic parts by vocalizing his disgust with the movie (like he always does!).

It was a nice night. It was cheesy while still being sweet.

*Joseph denies that this event took place.

The One Day It Snowed

The weather in Philadelphia has been incredibly nice this year. I realized the other day that this must be what winter is like for people who don't hate the winter. They have nice, mild winters. This year we haven't even had any snow accumulation. It has been glorious.

However, two weekends ago my parents came up to visit and we had the worst weather we have had all winter. On the one day they were here.

We went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which is an awesome place. They had an ancient Hindu temple build right into one of the rooms in the museum. They also have a wing of the museum where every room was an installation from old European mansions. Amazing. They also had cool suits of armor from back in the day.
Dad beelined for the guns. Typical.

After the museum we went to Reading Terminal Market to walk around.

Then, for dinner we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Han Dynasty. It is delicious. Afterwards, Joseph said we should only go out to eat there for the rest of the time we are in Philadelphia, because he is going to miss it so much.

It was a fun weekend.

Joseph Turns 27

Joseph had his 27th birthday. I made some eggs brunch for breakfast, and eggplant parm for dinner. We spent the day hanging out, trying to ignore the fact that we are actually getting older.

The Cheesesteak Taste Off

My little brother, Matthew, stopped in Philadelphia on his way home from a week working in New York two weeks ago. It was fun to hang out with him for a day. While he was here we trekked down to taste the great Philly cheesesteak rivals - Pat's and Geno's. Neither Joseph nor I had ever made it down there before, but I am glad that we went. The cheesesteaks were delicious. Joseph liked Geno's best, and Matt like Pat's best (I think, I could have switched those on accident). They were, somehow, unique enough despite the same ingredients.

Geno's is, admittedly, flashier that Pat's

We had to sit in a neutral location to eat. Not kidding. We got yelled at by some Jersey Shore gorilla look-alikes who were manning the grills.

On the way home we stopped in the Italian Market to get some authentic cannoli's. So delicious, and I don't even usually like cannoli's.

Restaurant Week

Joseph's mom came to visit for one day. She got a really good deal on a ticket. She kindly agreed to take us to Mercato for Restaurant Week. It was very good. The place was tiny and packed full of people, I loved the atmosphere.

Winter

While I don't wear socks to bed, I have definitely been rocking the sweats.
So this seems like a pretty accurate depiction of me around bed time.
My husband is so lucky.
