Lately throughout the world of the internet there have been recipes for Kale chips showing up on all of my favorite blogs. Many of these blogs have recipes that I have used in the past and generally trust their judgement. So last week when Joseph and I went to the market I decided that it would be a good idea to buy a huge head of kale, it was only 99 cents after all. Joseph practically begged me not to. But the healthy person in side of me prevailed, I wanted to make Kale chips, everyone is saying they are a delicious treat and much better for you than potato chips. So I went home, washed the kale, removed the tough inner spine, chopped it into bite sized pieces, sprayed two cooking sheets with Pam, sprinkled with salt, and put this lovely green kale into the oven where it need to bake for approximately 10-15 minutes.
Let me just tell you, do not be fooled into thinking that kale chips are awesome or that you will enjoy them as much as potato chips, because guess what you won't. While they did taste ok (but not actually good) right out of the oven when they were still warm as they began to cool they began to taste wierder and weirder (kale as a pretty wierd taste anyways). So that by the time they were totally cool they were no longer even slightly appealing and they smell. This was the biggest surprise no one in all of these blogs had mentioned that baked kale smells, and it makes your whole house smell and it makes you want to puke.
So the moral of the story is do not be fooled by kale. I for one will be sticking to the milder greens, spinach, arugula, and swiss chard, from now on.

Dang, I saw your post title and got so excited, thinking you were going to share an awesome, secret healthy recipe with me! Oh well. I will tell you, though, kale can actually be SO good. My sister taught me to cook it up with some onions and feta and a little olive oil & balsamic vinegar, and really, it's soooo good.
