Chiang Mai - Temple Tour

Today was our last full day in Chiang Mai. We had signed up for a private tour of some of the local Buddhist Temples.

The first temple that we went to was on the top of the mountain, which was really awesome. We had a tour guide that pointed out some interesting facts about the Buddha that I didn't know. For instance, most Buddhist know the day of the week they were born because it corresponds with a different Buddha. Joseph whipped out his phone to learn I was born on a Sunday, and Joseph was born on a Thursday. I went with the thinking Buddha and Joseph went with the meditating Buddha. Also, there were a lot of bells hanging around and our guide said you ring them to bring help from the Angels, which I thought was pretty nice.

We also went to some other temples in town, one that hadn't been maintained, but they still had big gold Buddhas inside which was cool. I enjoyed touring the temples, and learned a lot.

We spent the afternoon at the pool napping, since vacation is tiring, and then we had some authentic street food for dinner. We love the street food, and it seems their food is better than the nicer restaurants which try too hard to Americanize, so I think I can live with the risk of disease. We were vaccinated before we came.
