We woke up early and tried to make it to Ephesus early before it got to hot, but we failed. Mostly because it was really hot already by the time we woke up. I had not anticipated it being this hot in Turkey.
We toured Ephesus very slowly, trying not to get heat stroke. It is a pretty remarkable ancient city. I am glad that we went. Joseph couldn't stop talking about the preserved plumbing system that you could see in some of the walls and floors. That fascinated him for some reason.
After Ephesus we went home to nap and cool off and relax. We had to prepare ourselves for the Turkish Bath that Joseph was dead set on going to. So off we went, and it was definitely an experience. I left my swimming suit on because I'm a prude, but everyone else just had on little Turkish towels. After lying in the sauna room for a while on some hot marble stones (which actually felt pretty amazing) a hairy, half-naked man named Edward came in to give us a massage. Oh boy. That was hilarious and awkward. But my skin felt so amazing afterward and smelled so good so I think I am sold, and can handle the awkwardness for the lovely feeling you end up with. After we were done and left the sauna room they wrapped us up in turbans and made us sit down for like 30 minutes to "relax" but I was too amused to really relax.
After the bath, we found a restaurant in town and had a big feast of Turkish dishes. Everything was delicious. We sat and watched the Olympics and enjoyed a long slow dinner. The long dinners are one of my favorite things about Mediterranean countries.
Now some pictures

I can just see your awkward face watching the hairy man walk into the room! Too funny!
