Flower(s) in bloom

My plants are really starting to get on my nerves.  I was about to dump them all out yesterday, for their inability to actually produce flowers.  It's not that they aren't growing, they are, but it is just a big bunch of green foliage.  No beautiful flowers, just basically weeds.  Finally after weeks of "growing" I got one lame little flower on only one of my five plants.  Another one of the plants completely died, it was growing along and then it just stopped and it died, it was sad. Plus not there are little tiny bugs that fly around the pots that are really not making me happy.  Am I doing something wrong, is there a trick to successfully growing plants on your windowsill?

I really don't think they are going to make the move across town to our new apartment.
